Description: Although sex is often thought of as a very physical activity, it also aids in emotional connection and attachment to others. When there is a hiccup in a couple’s emotional connection or attachment, sex is often affected; and vice versa! This workshop will explore the ways Emotionally Focused Therapy and sex therapy can be integrated in order to guide our clients to deeper, more emotionally safe erotic and emotional connections. This workshop includes a combination of lecture, case examples, videos, and small group discussions.

Presenter Bio:

Emily Gabelman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Chicago, IL. She earned her MSSW with a certificate in Marriage & Family Therapy at the University of Louisville. Throughout her eight years in the field, she has worked with children, teenagers, and adults; and with issues such as sexual trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and intimacy issues. She is extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and recently finished the Sexual Health Certificate Program at University of Michigan. Emily passionately believes that everyone has a right to sexual health and pleasure; and enjoys using her role as a sex and relationship therapist to empower her clients.
