Meet Joseph Harrington, LPC

Hello! I’m Joseph (he/him/his). I view therapy as a creative and collaborative experience that requires a unique approach for every individual. With that in mind, I find a genuine, supportive, and transparent relationship to be an important foundation for healing and growth. I also recognize that it will not just be us in the therapy room; we each bring in our histories, cultures, and intersecting identities that influence how we see the world and how the world sees us. I endeavor to create a safe and empowering space for you to explore all aspects of yourself, meet your goals, and create a life of flourishing.

My areas of focus include working with adult individuals and couples around topics such as anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, life transitions, identity development, and men’s issues. I have a particular interest and experience in working with men and culturally diverse clients. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and continually striving to move beyond allyship towards being a genuine accomplice for marginalized communities.

I received my MA in Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University and a BA in Sociology from the University of Florida. I have training in several forms of therapy to tailor our time together to what works best for you. Again, collaboration and creativity are essential. When appropriate, I incorporate CBT and DBT skills and utilize a feminist multicultural perspective to understand the contexts in which we find ourselves. Beyond my formal education, I have a deep grounding in mindfulness techniques from years of personal meditation practices.

I’m excited to hear from you and honored to join you on your journey.
