Meet caleb spaulding, AMFT

Clients find my particular approach to therapy to be a casual directness that is personable but does not shy away from the emotional difficulties often involved in pursuing self-reflection or achieving true movement in their lives. People come to me when they are ready to take a closer examination of themselves and their circumstances; gaining clarity and insight into their emotions, sense of self, values, and a deeper sense of what matters to them and what to do about it.

Personally, I have a broad background that helps me connect on many different levels. I have worked in the corporate business world for Fortune 500 companies, small tech startups, and owned my own business for many years before obtaining a MS in Counseling through National University in San Diego.

I am a recent Chicago transplant and moved here along with my wife and three kids from California. I enjoy playing tennis, nerdy board games, or video games and I am a big foodie so please share with me your favorite spots at our first session!

Services Offered

Individual Therapy - Individual therapy is a sacred space to explore just you. Our overall aim will be for you to create a deeper and more knowing connection to yourself and to the world around you in a meaningful and concerted way.

In these sessions, I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which is a personal values-focused approach that helps you gain clarity on you as an individual person. What would it feel like to have the confidence to discern and choose your values vs the values that are often being thrust upon us by other people and sources? Unlike other approaches, we are not satisfied with simply reducing or managing symptoms, rather we give our attention to the fundamental aspects of your relationship to your thoughts and emotions and notice the things that come up within you that get in the way of you being you across the different contexts in your life.

Specialties include:

Relationship Issues, ADHD, Social Anxiety, Religious/Belief Deconstruction, Major Life Changes, Business/Executive Career Therapy

Couples Intensive - This is for couples that are ready to take a close and deep look at their relationship. Utilizing an evidenced-based approach called EFT, we will work together to examine the negative interaction cycles that can so easily wreak havoc on our connection. Do you get the sense that you and your partner are often having the same fight repeatedly while also mysteriously feeling helpless to avoid it? We will work together in joint sessions to understand this phenomenon and all the underlying factors that create these uncomfortable and intense moments in your relationship.

Designed to be a finite experience typically lasting 4-16 sessions, we will work through specific stages addressing these issues head on while healing/creating new interactional patterns and connections.

Caleb currently sees clients at our Wicker Park location, as well as via telehealth.

He is in-network with BCBS PPO, Aetna, and United Healthcare insurance.
