Meet angela nguyen, Lmft

Challenges may morph and change as we grow older, but our emotional experiences will always be a consistent reaction to our everyday instances. It's one of the ways the human life is so colorful! With these daily stressors, excitements, and even moments of ennui, it's only natural that we would yearn to share so that we could feel more heard and understood. After all, humans are social beings. Sometimes the way at which we express ourselves may not always be sufficient to help us feel heard, though, and we need someone to actually, deeply listen. Whatever therapeutic project you're hoping to work on, I'd be more than happy to collaborate with you on it.

I received my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Regis University in Denver, and my B.S. in Psychology at Portland State University, but I'd have to say that my fiery interest in psychological and relational issues started from a very young age. It wasn't until the fourth grade, when I helped advise one of my friends on how to patch up one of her friendships, that I was told to consider pursuing this as a career. I thrive off of working with couples specifically, but I also have experience working with trauma, mental health disorders (e.g. Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder), and adolescents.

My favorite quotation is by Aldous Huxley:

Too much consistency is as bad for the mind as it is for the body, consistency is contrary to nature, contrary to life. The only completely consistent people are the dead. Consistent intellectualism and spirituality may be socially valuable, up to a point; but they make, gradually, for individual death.

I adore this quotation for its reminder about how important change is in order to promote growth. As tempting as it is to stay feeling comfortable in complacency, the path of least resistance would open up more experiential opportunities – more ways in which we can fully experience human life. Hopefully your pursuit in therapy will be one of those gateways.
