Ethical Practice Workshop Series

Each Ethical Practice Workshop in the series will provide 60 minutes of didactic and experiential presentation followed by 30 minutes of focused, topical questions and answers with other area practice owners. Participants will be expected to come with specific questions related to the topics and to participate in discussion with other workshop attendees.

This workshop series will be facilitated by Josh Hetherington, LMFT, LCPC.

Topics include: Philosophy, Intake (how many clients do we need to make this work?), Referral network, Supervision, training and continuing education, Compensation Structure (how much does it cost to employ a professional?), Benefits (how much can I afford to give people the best level of comfort that I can?), Insurance Paneling and billing (who is going to pay attention to the details and be able to fix problems?), Hiring process (gut feelings and including others in the process), W2 V. 1099 (who to ask for help?), Marketing (how much is enough?), Practice Models (what’s your endgame?), and Preparing for the end.

Times: Mondays, 9-10:30am CT

Location: Virtual via Zoom (link will be provided via email 24 hrs before each workshop)

Attendance Fee: $50 for each workshop individually, or $290 for all 6 together (a savings of $10)

Presenter Bio:  Josh Hetherington LMFT, LCPC is the founder and owner of Chicago Center for Relationship Counseling. He got his MSMFT in 1998 and began his career. He worked in community mental health, hospitals and at the Family Institute at Northwestern as a supervisor and faculty member. He started a solo practice in 2011 and hired his first associate in 2012, becoming a group practice. Over that time, he’s made a lot of mistakes, learned a lot, and is happy to share his experiences.

  • 9-10:30 Mon, Mon 11/13/23: Compensation structure, Benefits

    • Objectives:

      • Attendees will develop ideas for their personal policies for compensation and benefits.

      • Attendees will problem solve on any issues related to their policies for compensation and benefits.

      • Attendees will modify, or solidify their policies for compensation and benefits.

      • Attendees will develop ideas for their personal hiring process and values related to having employees vs contract workers. 

      • Attendees will problem solve on any issues related to their hiring process and values related to having employees vs contract workers.

      • Attendees will develop ideas for their marketing strategies and use of practice models.

      • Attendees will problem solve on any issues related to their marketing strategies and use of practice models.

      • Attendees will modify or solidify their marketing strategies and use of practice models.
