Gabe Seldess, LMFT

As a Marriage and Family Therapist I take a systemic approach to exploring individual and relational problems. As with my colleagues at NCRC, I believe that our current success and struggles have roots in our prior experiences, and are maintained by current cultural, philosophical, and relational patterns. Through counseling, I assist people in an exploration of goals and personal values, and help identify skills and tools useful for navigating our lives and achieving deeper, more meaningful relationships with ourselves and others

Since graduating from the Family Institute at Northwestern University in 2003, I have worked with children, teens and adults coping with Depression, Anxiety, anger and mood management, stress management, family illness or violence, and relational problems. I have extensive experience with couples and families, assisting in enhancing communication, cooperation, and family education around ADHD, Autism, and ODD. I have been trained in the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) to assist youth with identifying alternative coping strategies to substance abuse, and have experience working with men and teens on relationship building, communication, and awareness of how cultural and family pressures and expectations can impact our lives. Born and raised in the Chicago area, I have also lived in New York City and much less populated areas of North Carolina. I am LGBTQIA affirming.
