Meet Al-Fuquan Brooks, LMFT
The balance between meeting personal needs and accommodating the needs of partners, family, and life’s expectations can be challenging. My career goal is to assist individual’s couples, and families with reaching their maximum relationship potential. I do so by helping those I work with identify personal strengths and challenges they’ve developed from their family of origin. I also provide support by offering insight and reflection on how to steer life and relationships “back on course”.
My counseling approach is based upon the family systems theory developed by Murray Bowen, M.D. I also have specialized training in trauma focused child and adolescent therapy such as, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child Centered Psychotherapy, and Theraplay. I have a strong interest in cultural competence and awareness. I am dedicated to working with and advocating for children, adults, and families of underserved, multicultural, minority communities.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Stockton University of New Jersey and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University of Philadelphia. As a veteran the US Navy I welcome and thank all of those whom have served or are active duty members of the United States Armed Forces. I also welcome and thank family members of veterans and active duty members for their commitment and support of those in military service.
