Meet Jennifer Litner, AMFT
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized clinical training in individual, couples and sex therapy. I work with individuals and couples coping with anxiety, life transitions, relationship stressors (i.e. infidelity, challenging communication patterns, loss of intimacy) and sexual concerns. I also offer pre-marital counseling for couples that wish to focus specifically on marriage preparation.
I earned a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University where I was systemically trained with an emphasis in Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I use a warm and directive approach to help clients work toward their goals while utilizing their strengths to maximize progress. I often bring creativity and humor into therapy sessions as I strive to be a source of enthusiasm and guidance for my clients as they navigate the ups and downs of life.
I have a growing specialization in sex therapy. I work with clients to address sexual pain or discomfort, changes in sexual desire or arousal, compulsive or out-of-control sexual behaviors, challenges integrating faith and sexuality, and anxiety about sex and performance.
I understand that sexuality is a delicate topic for many people and seek to provide an encouraging environment for clients to express their worries, needs, desires and fears, including painful moments and awkward adventures. In opening up an empathic space for clients to give voice to their most intimate matters, I am hopeful that they will be able to live their lives with more freedom from anxiety, pain, stress and shame. I am an LGBTQIA affirmative therapist and welcome people of all gender presentations, sexual orientations and relationship configurations.
