Workshop 5: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples

30.00

May 31st 2019, 11am-2pm

Presenter: Sara Morrow

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples is an empirically validated therapy that is used around the world. The therapy is attachment-focused, systemic and experiential in nature; it helps couples step out of a negative cycle, into a more secure, and emotionally attuned one (ICEEFT, 2018). This workshop aims to give participants a good working-knowledge of the model’s basic components. The following will be areas of focus: overview of the model, efficacy of EFT, attachment theory, primary vs. secondary emotions, mapping couples’ negative interactional cycles, key EFT techniques and contraindications.
